I like color, and the smell of oil paint, and disappearing into the concentration of rendering in paint something that excites me visually. I can't really say why I am compelled to create, but have done so for as long as I can remember. I have come to accept the journey without asking about the destination. Some days the paint flows easy and the painting seems to paint itself. I never really know when that will occur.
I enjoy painting on
location (en plein air), and many of the works represented on this site were
completed just about entirely while in front of the landscape. Not every session produces a good painting, but I usually learn something (or something NOT to do next time!), so I keep at it. Have a look at
