The oil painting (also for sale) was painted onsite at Boat Meadow, Eastham (Cape Cod), MA and has been part of the artist's personal collection until recently.
“Cape Cod, Massachusetts is a unique place with its very own landscape. The vegetation is sparse in the sandy soil, with stunted trees and miles of sand dunes, marshes and grasses. At low tide in the bay along the west side of the Cape, the water recedes for a couple miles, leaving stretches of sand bars and tide pools, with marshes along many of the beaches. Boat Meadow is an area on the bay in Eastham, and the same red and blue boats were moored out here for all the years I lived in the area. I did this painting onsite, barefoot in the sand and swatting at horse flies and no-see-’ems. Notice the mast of a distant sailboat showing, the hull of the boat entirely obstructed by the marsh grasses.”
