I originally painted this subject many years ago and promptly sold it.
I've always wanted to revisit it, so I dug up the photo reference, and re-cropped to a square.
Forsythia always reminds me of my youth in suburban Colonia, NJ, where we had a large hedge of forsythia all along one side of the property. Every spring it was a mass of bright yellow blooms. I don't think my mom ever cut any to bring in the house, but as an adult on Cape Cod, I found an abandoned forsythia bush in the woods near our house and would trudge out there with a big bucket every spring and bring home a bouquet for every room.
