The original oil painting was done onsite in North Salem, NY in 1996.
“I lived for two years in North Salem, New York, which is in Westchester County about an hour and a half north of New York City. There are small towns – bedroom communities for New York City executives – and many gated estates where famous people live, plus the “country homes” of wealthy city dwellers. The area is also home to horse stables where dressage horses are bred and trained. This barn is adjacent to a large public area. The original piece is the largest plein air landscape I have ever painted. I went to the site two times in order to complete most of it, then finished it in my studio.”
